Mare breeds Barbados Gold Cup Quinella

3 minute read

American mare Miss Madeleine would be a proud mum today as two of her sons took the first two places in the Sandy Lane Gold Cup, Barbados's premier race.

Both the winner Dancin David, a 5yo, and John Brian, a 5yo, are owned by prominent Barbados owner Sir David Seale, and both coped admirably with the very trying conditions.

Several days of rain had threatened the race going ahead but it takes a lot to stop a party in Barbados and everything went according to plan - except that Dancin Dave, who had been a reserve for the race, got a lucky break when another horse was scratched and made the most of it.

The very heavy conditions took their toll on most of the runners, with Zoom being able to struggle home for third.
