This was a new trip for Better Than Ever who was coming back from a spell, but his class was too much for the competition in the Merlion Trophy.
This is the first leg of the Singapore Sprint Series and it didn't disappoint. Ato looked at one stage as if he had the race but Better Than Ever put in a great finishing burst to get the trophy. Yin Kin had been up in the lead for most of the race and finished third, with veteran Capablanca fourth.
On Friday Nandowra had no problems in winning the Open, with Tarankali second, My Race third and Superczar fourth. Parfumier was a non-runner.
