3 minute read

The Dubai Gold Cup which had to be abandoned after the unfortunate accident in the straight the first time round, will now be re-run at the end of the program.

All the connections have agree to this and there is only one jockey change - Gerald Mosse on Kasbah Bliss has to get back to Hong Kong for commitments tomorrow and his place will be taken by another French jockey, Christophe Lemaire. The runners will be vetted prior to the start, but in fact they only ran about 1400m before the race was stopped.

The UAE Derby was a good result for the Irish with Daddy Long Legs winning and Wrote running third, with French runner Yang Tse Kiang separating them in the finish.

The paddock resounded to cries of "Aussie Aussie Aussie" as Craig Williams brought Ortensia back to the winner's circle in the Al Quoz Sprint, with ecstatic connections running alongside. It was an excellent ride from Williams who settled the horse in a good position just off the pace and then produced a withering finish. Sole Power for Ireland ran second and Joy and Fun for Hong Kong third. Monsieur Joe (by Choisir) was fourth and August Rush fifth.

The Golden Shaheen saw the Bahrainian runner Krypton Factor run down a gallant Rocket Man in the straight. There were some sizzling times in the first part of the race with Rocket Man and Giant Ryan fighting for the lead. Lucky Nine for Hong Kong finished strongly to take third.
