The 129th Derby Italiano will be run at Capannelle, Rome, on Sunday, with a field of 11 to go to post.
There are two unbeaten runners here - Sopra Montieri who will be having his third start and Real Solution his fourth. The interesting thing here is that Real Solution is owned by Americans Ken and Sarah Ramsay, who bred raced and owned horses such as Roses in May and Kitten's Joy. They have had horses racing all round the world but we think this is a first in Italy - he's with Bruno Grizzetti and Mirco Demuro will ride.
The in-form Fabio Branca will be on Smoking Joe and Vola E Va has had a win and a second from two starts and could be worth keeping an eye on.
