NEW SOUTH WALES

SR 8-8 MASTER OF DESIGN (David Payne): Fascinating runner having now had his third trainer in as many starts. Originally with Lee Freedman he went to Perth winning first up there. After trialling and winning it easily at Bunbury, he has been sent to Sydney trying to recoup some part of the $2m price tag.

SR 8-9 PHENOMENAL LASS (Joe Pride): Given to Joe Pride to train and he has a brilliant record with these types of F&M. Had readied herself for this with two lead ups at Warwick Farm.

NSW TRIALLERS RACING INTERSTATE:

MR 6-2 GOLD TRAIL (Gary Portelli): Only met a small group of opponents in a lead up clean out for the Monash but he had had that effort in the Chief de Beers which was very acceptable. The short course will help him.

VICTORIA

MR 4-1 MORE AWESOME (Deans Wells): Tassie 2yo who ran bravely against some decent horses of the vintage. Placed in black type races behind the likes of Triple Asset, Golden Archer and Chinchilla might give him a show here after winning a small numbered trial at Hobart.

MR 6-6 CAUSEYACAN (Peter Morgan): In a race with several first uppers and triallers, this gelding takes on stakes grade after winning a trial at Cranbourne. It's been 18 months since he raced so will be interesting to see the results.

QUEENSLAND

BR 6-5 JOINT CHIEFS (Brian Wakefield): Ran a similar trial last campaign before running some very consistent races, mostly in Sydney. That form might be stronger than here although he hasn't won for a while and might take a run to be ready.

BR 7-1 STARTSMEUP (Bruce Hill): Won a Gold Coast trial on 28 June coming off the Australian Guineas at Flemington. He ran a cracker in the lead up CS Hayes as well as the Magic Millions Guineas confirming his place in the 3yo ranks.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

AR 8-1 WOMBY PRINCESS (Mark Minervini): Handy mare resuming. Has run some cheeky races fresh and the stable usually have them pretty wound up. She looked that way when just beaten in a recent 1000m trial here. Will be good odds but can sneak into the finish fresh.
