SR 5: With all runners resuming their recent trial form will be examined closely. (2) FOXWEDGE has done everything right in his trials and had plenty in hand winning his 900m heat at Rosehill on 2 August when he showed class to drop his rivals before the rider eased him. However his time was eclipsed on the day by (5) DEFIANT DAME, who showed she was back to her Gimcrack Stakes form when she went almost 2.5 seconds quicker over the same trip to win her heat by a clear margin, leaving an unextended (7) HOLLYWEIRD back in fourth. Her speed will be matched by (6) KARUTA QUEEN, who showed she has retained all her juvenile brilliance by clearing out to win a Canberra trial over 900m on 22 July by 10 lengths. At Warwick Farm on 29 July (4) BOYS ON TOUR won his 800m heat while (3) ANISE was a soft third in another 800m heat in slower time. (1) FONTELINA could not match her top class stablemate Smart Missile when third to that colt in a 728m heat at Randwick last Friday.

SR 6: Galaxy winner (1) ATOMIC FORCE outclassed four rivals in a 900m heat at Rosehill on 2 August in excellent time for the conditions while (2) SYREON was second in his 1030m heat on the same day. Syreon's stablemate (4) PRESSDAY looked forward when a strong second in 1030m heat at Rosehill on 18 July. Honest mare (7) DORF COMMAND has an excellent fresh record and was given a solid test when third over 1050m at Randwick last Friday.

SR 7: (2) SEA LORD performs when fresh and no doubt he is going well judging by his Rosehill heat win over 1030m on 2 August. (8) GAI'S CHOICE, another with strong first-up stats, stretched out well when second in her heat over 900m at the same session.

VICTORIA

MR 4-12 HEAVEN'S CHOICE (Gary White): Tassie youngster who won on debut against good opposition at Launceston and after a break was second in a Cranbourne run to be readied for this in the Quezette.

MR 7-3 PINKER PINKER (Greg Eurell): The Australian Oaks placegetter had a nice hit out at Cranbourne on 8 August and so into the Cockram she will be closely watched to be running on hard.

QUEENSLAND

BR 4-6 HAIZUM (Tony Sears): Off a very consistent Autumn campaign in similar contests around areas in Queensland, the 6yo won a trial at Toowoomba to be ready for the first up assignment.

BR 4-9 CATTLEMAN (Harry Richardson): Old boy obviously thrives on racing consistently through much of a long campaign last time. Had two trials for this including a last start win at Toowoomba

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

AR 4-2 RED DRESS MARLEY (Robert Smerdon): Progressive filly who won her maiden at Morphettville last time where she kept coming to score. Has been kept fresh for this but has in the meantime finished on well for a third in a trial. Suited by the trip and in an even race looks one of the main hopes.
