G1 Golden Rose Stks - 1400m Rosehill

Racing And Sports have identified the Golden Rose as the race of the weekend where the settling positions hold a big sway in the way the race may end up.

Our maps are interactive and so use the technology available to create your own speed map if you have a differing view. Much like racing everywhere, it is all a matter of opinion and that is what makes the sport great.

Click the link back to the race in our Form Guides and you can create your own Speed Maps located on the left hand side of the page.

Explanation:

This looks a fast race and it is like the Tour de France flat stage sprint with a Gai Waterhouse lead out. The champion trainer has an amazing five 3yos in the race and we can see every one of them in the mix early. Not all of them can get good runs and therefore we’re expecting Bull Point and Aussies Love Sport as two who will be covering ground. The Golden Rose has not been a race where wide barriers have been the end of your chances. Getting back and running on has been successful - Epaulette and Albrecht drew 8 & 10 respectively last year and were last and second last into the straight before running the quinella.

They will run along here and that should give every single horse its chance. Making ground on this day has not been an issue, siting 2012 as an example but also Toorak Toff, Denman, In Top Swing etc were all able to run home down the centre in pressure races. Zoustar on paper has a shocking draw but he could well have the three wide train in this and he was making ground wide all the way on a day when it was not that easy to do a fortnight back at Rosehill. 1400m will be more in his domain and hoping for a J Cassidy special. Another two backmarkers who will go around very silly odds in this are Criterion and Windjammer. It’s such an even race that luck in running and late splits could be the winning formula.
