Chris Scholtz - Early Thoughts

R&S Contributing Editor Chris Scholtz takes a look at tomorrow’s Sydney racing.

SELECTIONS

Rosehill Race 6 - 6 Painted Firetail

Has won only twice in 10 starts but fair to say her record would be so much better if luck had gone her way in several races, especially her last two outings at Rosehill and Geelong.

After winning first-up at Canterbury she never got a clear crack when finishing a boxed up fifth over 1100m at this course in what has proven to be a very strong form race.

She then went to Geelong for the Listed Black Pearl over 1200m where she was set an impossible task to come from last in a big field on a hot front runners track. Hard to beat this time if the breaks finally go her way.

Rosehill Race 7 - 8 Balmain Boy

Honest grey is drawn to enjoy the ideal run and should strip at his peak for this after two placings from his four starts since resuming.

Given every chance last time when second over 1600m at Randwick in this class but they went out hard and the race was set up for a late closer.

He is a gross type and suspect that he will have taken benefit from that game effort. Looms as a big danger to the in-form Moher with 4.5kg weight advantage.

Rosehill Race 9 - 8 Nieta

Quality mare building an impressive record with four wins from eight starts. Rebounded from an excusable failure on a heavy track when she showed a classy turn of foot from the second half of the field to score easily over 1000m at Randwick on October 22.

Should have no trouble coping with this company if she turns up in the same form.
