Chris Scholtz - Early Thoughts

R&S Contributing Editor Chris Scholtz takes a look at tomorrow’s Sydney racing.

SELECTIONS

Rosehill Race 2 - 7 Siren's Fury

Progressive mare is ready to win at her third run since resuming following two eye-catching performances that have her set-up nicely for this class and distance. Had no luck when finishing off strongly first-up in the G3 Nivison (1200m) at Randwick and again was blocked and had to be eased before hitting the line strongly for fourth over this course and distance on November 4. Can only be fitter for those efforts and conditions should suit as she is accomplished on rain affected tracks.

Rosehill Race 5 - 5 Cabeza De Vaca

Appeals as one of the most progressive types in the Waterhouse/Bott stable after resuming with a strong front-running win in slow going over 1400m at Randwick on October 28, beating his classy stablemate Supply And Demand. He’s on the path to the Villiers Stakes and significantly gets the blinkers reinstated for this race, having worn the gear in three impressive wins last preparation. He’s missed a place only once in 13 starts, won his only previous start at Rosehill and has impressive form on rain affected ground. Ticks all the right boxes.

Rosehill Race 9 - 9 Tactical Advantage

Blinkers have been applied, a big move after he looked unlucky to lose his first start for his new trainer Joe Pride when coming from last to finish third over 1000m on a slow track at Randwick on October 28. Steps up in grade but that is countered by a 5kg drop in weight backed up by his first class course and distance stats. The forecast also favours him with three of his five wins on affected tracks.

BLACKBOOK UPDATE from 11 November (Horses to follow at their next three starts)

It’s Somewhat - Godolphin should be confident about his chances in Perth.

Tamasa - A lingering nightmare for his backers. Still trying to get a run.

Gallic Chieftain - Negative ride gave him little chance. Stay with him.

Muraaqeb - Found the line hard. Close to a win.

Curdled - Sure to benefit from sound first-up effort.

Dreamforce - Strong return. Took a fit horse to run him down.

Recent Blackbook winners - Aloisia; Rich Charm; Urban Ruler; Dia De Reyes; Shillelagh; Inspired Estelle; Jorda; Machinegun Jubs.
