Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Randwick, Caulfield, Eagle Farm and Morphettville.

RANDWICK: RACE 1 @ 12:30 PM

ALEGRON (2) underrated gelding fitter after two runs back after winning the Brisbane Cup last June. Up in trip from the good gate when he ran into trouble all the way up the straight finishing ninth over 2400m in the G1 The Metropolitan at this track two weeks ago. Maps well and will prove hard to hold out if the breaks go his way. ETNA ROSSO (6) lightly raced stayer racing in career-best form. Won the Newcastle Cup two back, before being snagged back from the wide draw when fifth over 2400m in the G1 The Metropolitan here last time out. Can race a little closer here and return to winning form. WYCLIF (7) tough stayer who's raced without luck this time in. Caught the eye late from the wide draw when eighth over 2400m in the G1 The Metropolitan. Maps well from the gate and has the ability to take this out. ATHABASCAN (3) fourth up here and improvement is expected. Held a forward position before tiring when 10th in the Metropolitan last start. This is easier and not to be underestimated.
SELECTIONS: Alegron to win.

CAULFIELD: RACE 8 @ 4:30 PM

SKYBIRD (4) clearly on top. She's been outstanding in two runs back, flying late to just miss Arkansaw Kid fresh before drawing the carpark, getting a mile back and charging into third at Flemington. Gets the switch to a soft gate here, if she can use it, she will be awfully hard to hold out. REVOLUTIONARY MISS (2) won the Flemington race, getting a nice run and scoring narrowly. No knocks on her. MISS ARIA (9) split the pair in the Blazer and ran on strongly from the back as well. She's very consistent and right up to winning this. QUINTESSA (1) can improve.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Skybird.

EAGLE FARM: RACE 8 @ 4:00 PM

GIN A TONIC (1) wasn't too far away at Doomben last time out and should be ready to peak now third-up from the spell. Is one from one around this circuit, draws the inside alley and gets 2kg weight relief with the claim. Ticks plenty of boxes. ESTRONDO (3) has been thereabouts in all four runs this preparation and looks to be nearing another victory. Gets Orman on board to navigate from the outside draw and looms as the main danger. BOLLINGER MISS (6) has a win and a second from just two starts this time in work and looks a galloper with some upside. Top-three candidate. PROMINENT LAD (4) got the maiden win out of the way at the latest effort and winning hoop Callow sticks. Will have derived some confidence from that victory and is worth consideration. ALPHA BRAVO (2) best of the rest in a race with only a handful of chances.
SELECTIONS: Gin A Tonic to get back into the winners' stall.

MORPHETTVILLE: RACE 8 @ 4:57 PM

ZEBELLA (4) has returned in terrific order this campaign, unlucky not to make it two on the bounce when beaten a lip at Flemington. Peaking now and is sure to be very competitive. THE GUAVA (1) hasn't done much wrong this campaign and hasn't gone as bad as his recent form suggests. Will appreciate the drop in grade as he steps back to a winning trip four weeks between runs. Don't underestimate from the inside alley. Smaller cases can also be made for last-start winner NURYS (11).
SELECTIONS: Zebella to win.

NEWCASTLE: RACE 2 @ 1:55 PM
AGED CARE (4) came to hand quickly in his debut campaign and resumes with two recent trials ticked off. From a positive draw can return in winning form. EAGLES BEWARE (5) has been around the mark in recent trials and looks well-educated. Can handle this lineup on debut. THREEFOLD (11) showed good improvement from her maiden prep when finishing second on resuming at Moruya. Will be fitter and can go one better.
SELECTIONS: Aged Care win.

BENDIGO: RACE 2 @ 2:19 PM

ANNOTATE (1) trialled well for the Maher stable before changing camps and justified good support at double-figure odds ($19 to $11) to turn in an encouraging debut. Will have derived plenty from that, the extra 100m looks right up his alley, especially from the gun draw. SHUBAEL (7) comes through the same race as Annotate and while he looks to have the job ahead turning the tables on that galloper, his previous runs were good. STYLE GUIDE (8) is a Kiwi recruit for an ownership group who have good results with those type of gallopers and love to target races at Bendigo, so must respect. SELECTIONS: Annotate on top.
SELECTIONS: Aged Care win.
