Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Ballarat and Kilcoy.
BALLARAT SYNTHETIC: RACE 7 @ 4:30
PMMaher-trained GOLDEN ESTRELLA (6) had been knocking on the door before drawing wide at Wangaratta heavily bet and be forgiving (vet cleared). Draws low today and 24% course-striker John Allen rides for the first time. Suited back to 1200m and will go close. WHERE'S POPPY (1) resumed in stronger on a heavy track and needed it. He's placed second-up and has plenty up his sleeve. Has a handy 3kg claim and won't know himself in a 68. Feared. MAGIC BERTIE (3) threatened twice before getting too far back here unwanted in the betting. Draws awkwardly again but will be around the mark with better luck. PAD THAI (5) switched from a NSW barn but needed the first-up outing. He has the rail today and pieces of form that would see him in the finish. Proven second-up and the blinkers are applied again.

Former Victorian CHIARO DI LUNA (5) resumes here but showed more than enough ability down south and will find this assignment an easier task. Drawn to get all the favours from the inside alley and gets in well at the weights with the 2kg claim. Ticks plenty of boxes. RAN NA LADY (10) was disappointing on debut but was very well supported in the market and where there's smoke there's fire. Worth another chance. CHIEF BY (2) placed two from three in his first preparation and has since been given time to furnish. May run a race while fresh. BOOMLANDER (1) hails from an astute barn and can improve enough to feature in the finish. The well-related SUMMER BRIDE (11) (half to 3xG3 winner and G1 placed Winter Bride) best of the rest.
SELECTIONS: Chiaro Di Luna to shed the maiden tag.
