Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Randwick Kensington, Sandown, Doomben, Grafton, Gawler, Pinjarra and Darwin.

RANDWICK KENSINGTON: RACE 4 @ 2:35 PM

VEGAS RAIDER (3) was much more competitive last start with a change in tactics when charging forward from a wide draw. Expecting much of the same this time and he should be further improved with fitness. Note front-running rider in Tim Clark taking over is a bonus. Expecting him to prove very tough to reel in. OCEANS ONE (1) was also denied by the barest of margins two back. Gave a bold sight last start but couldn't hold on. Should be at his peak now and gets a key jockey booking in Rawiller. Right in this. BUNDEENA (7) showed plenty of heart fresh to not be beaten far after a testing run. Drawn much kinder this time and is right in calculations. FAMOUS PEDRILLE (5) can improve sharply second-up and is worth keeping safe.
SELECTIONS: Vegas Raider to win.

SANDOWN-LAKESIDE: RACE 7 @ 3:55 PM

HANAU (5) was heavily backed first-up at Rosehill in a strong BM72, just fair when fifth but not beaten far by the talented In Flight who has won again since. He won well at Canterbury before a spell over 1250m and the rise to this trip looks ideal. LAYERUPONLAYER (6) is a progressive type who looked very good winning two in a row to start this preparation before just finding one better as a $1.60 favourite at Morphettville. Can bounce back. GO TO HOLLYWOOD (1) is in the mix as is CHEVAL CHIC (15) who has her first start for the new stable.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Hanau.

DOOMBEN: RACE 7 @ 4:06 PM

NOTACLUEHOWORWHO (10) made an encouraging return when he raced on the speed and fought well to just miss out by a nose over 1300m at Eagle Farm. Races well second-up with a win and a placing from two attempts so is a likely improver with strong prospects. GENETIC FREAK (2) made a winning start for the new yard when he resumed over 1200m at Gold Coast Poly and scored by a head. Draws for a soft run and could bring that form across to the turf. COOL ENCOUNTER (1) looks close to a win after finishing in the placings at his last couple of runs including a third most recently at Ipswich. Respect. Looking for improvement from DIANA'S AFFAIR (6) second up.
SELECTIONS: Notacluehoworwho to atone for a narrow fresh defeat.

GRAFTON: RACE 7 @ 3:59 PM

PEREILLE (3) is the clear favourite with some justification. Bolted in first-up at the Sunshine Coast then was a tragedy beaten over this distance in the Listed Hinkler at Eagle Farm a month ago. Put away with this in mind and with even luck he should bring up his first win at stakes level. BEZIQUE (7) has been runner-up at her last three, all at Listed level. Looked home only to be ambushed by Wollombi in the 1200m Gai Waterhouse at Ipswich last time. Will make her own luck up front and prove tough to run down. BACCHANALIA (1) hasn't fired in his two runs this prep, the latest 11 days ago at Randwick. Has an outstanding 1200m record so with blinkers on for the first time he could be the knockout horse at massive odds. MISHANI SNIPER (6) has been competitive in similar races to this in Brisbane of late. Needs luck from an awkward draw but worth an each-way ticket. DALAALAAT (17) is a likely improver following a fair effort first-up in the Hinkler.
SELECTIONS: Pereille to win.

GAWLER: RACE 7 @ 3:35 PM

LEADER'S PRIDE (1) had been threatening before winning here 11 days ago in stronger. They have elected not to claim but he still looks suited and can go on with the job. APEROL SPRINT (13) hasn't been winning but has figures that would see her competitive on a quick backup. Sits on the minimum and maps for the run of the race. SCAMSTER (5) has been within range his last two and finds easier. Needs a good ride from the outside barrier but is a hope. MILITARY PRESS (3) won his Maiden here and then came back and wasn't fancied on the heavy track in stronger. Keeps the handy 3kg claim and he should be around the mark. SELECTIONS: Going with Leader's Pride.

PINJARRA SCARPSIDE: RACE 4 @ 5:00 PM

KINGS SALUTE (1) appears a horse on the way up and he looks to have found a superb race today. He was narrowly beaten in Saturday grade when favourite last start and now drops back to a midweek CL3. Rates clear of his rivals and would just have to run up to recent figures to be winning. LITTLE SILVER (2) wasn't far away over 1200m on this course last start and steps back out in trip today which should suit. Suspect he rolls forward from the wide draw, and if he can do so with ease, he'll take plenty of catching. HUGHBERT (9) was very impressive when bolting in as the 2-1 favourite at Bunbury last time out. The drop in trip may be a slit niggle, but he looks to get a similar run this time and he won't be far away. TIGER LINE (7) got a long way back first-up and never got into the race. Now out in trip with Pike on and an inside alley. Include. RELIABLE QUEEN (6) is racing well of late and is right in the mix again.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Kings Salute.

DARWIN: RACE 6 @ 5:50 PM

PINK PANTHER (3) was a handy performer when trained in NSW and has made a bright start to his local career with back-to-back wins to open this prep. He is up 2-kilos in weight from his last win but gets to stay in the same grade. The hat-trick beckons. AMERICAN JAZZ (7) was fourth as favourite behind his stablemate and top pick last time out. Jarrod Todd has jumped off him but he loses nothing with Aaron Sweeney in the saddle and will be spot-on with his fitness third up. Follow your money. Can win. HETTINGER (2) is a very handy gelding at this level and he needed his fresh-up run in a stronger field 18 days ago. He is a strong miler who can improve sharply. Stick with him. BOOM BOOM SWEET (4) has needed both of his runs back from a spell and has 3-kilo less to carry this time. He is ready to put his best hoof forward here. Each way. CORMORANT (5) failed to fire in 5 starts last prep in Melbourne and South Australia and has since joined the local Lisa Whittle stable. Watch closely.
SELECTIONS: Pink Panther to win.
