Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Hawkesbury, Beaudesert, Warrnambool, Lismore and Bunbury.

HAWKESBURY: RACE 3 @ 2:20 PM

CHIBA (4) nicely bred three-year-old colt from the Waterhouse & Bott yard by Exceed And Excel from the quality mare Ichihara who has produced a winner at stakes level. Has shown his ability in two recent trials and expected to go close. GENEROUS HARRY (1) has race experience on his side after disappointing as fav on resumption when a tiring fourth over 1000m at Wyong on September 1. Further improved and the tongue-tie goes on. MOTORBIKE (7) is a gelding by Epaulette out of Mondial on debut for the James Cummings stable. Clearly strengthened since his first trial last year and looks set for a bright start. ISTOLEA MERC (2) four-year-old gelding by Winning Rupert out of Mercedes on debut for the Baker yard. Has shown promise in all three trials and he maps to get the right run.
SELECTIONS: Chiba to win.

BEAUDESERT: RACE 4 @ 1:47 PM

SONNY DAZE (1) won twice on the Gold Coast poly before finding one too good there last time. He's a leader who has won at this track and the 2kg claimer will jump him from the rails gate. The form is hard to go past. BRAVE WARRIOR (2) also runs along and missed a whisker twice before disappointing at Toowoomba as favourite. He's been freshened and gets in well with the 3kg claim. Finds easier and will get every chance to make amends. Metro-trained I AM A MARVEL (6) needed the first-up outing. He is proven second-up and maps for a soft run. Fitter he can improve into the finish. Stablemate GROOMED (5) gives away starts but has some weight relief and will proninaqnt if he brings his A-game.
SELECTIONS: Backing Sonny Daze.

WARRNAMBOOL: RACE 2 @ 2:00 PM

TAMAHINE (9) is a lightly raced type who was solid first-up at Bendigo, finishing third as an even-money favourite in what was a high-rating maiden. Fitter for that and will find this easier. Rates highly. DUCKIE (7) made good improvement at her second race start, finding the line well to grab second at Wangaratta over 1300m. Bit more ground here and should go close. LADY OF STEEL (8) is a 31-start maiden but is racing okay and could place. STAN TOUGH (4) was okay on debut before a spell and is in the mix.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Tamahine.

LISMORE: RACE 3 @ 2:40 PM

CONTRERAS (4) worked home steadily without ever looking a chance last start in a Class 3 over 2200m at Doomben. Back-marker who is rock hard fit after four runs back from a spell and looks tough to beat returning to his right grade. CASTEL TROSINO (3) won a Class 1 over this course and distance two runs back then finished alongside Contreras at Doomben last time. Reliable stayer at this level and he should be competitive again. I'MTIMMYZOU (6) led and gave a great sight but was claimed late in the piece over 2020m at Murwillumbah recently. Mixes his form but if things go right he can definitely win. JIMMY THE TULIP (5) has been easily accounted for in his four runs this prep but is getting down in the weights now and should be cherry ripe today. INTENTIONAL LASS (7) last raced over staying trips in April/May and performed well. One to keep safe with the step up in distance.
SELECTIONS: Backing Contreras.

BUNBURY: RACE 6 @ 7:00 PM

MIA GUSTO (7) resumed with a 2.2L defeat on the Belmont heavy before placing there on the slow. She's proven third-up and ran his best figure on a good surface. She has weight relief and she's in an in-form barn. ESTIMATOR (1) runs along and is in peak form. 3x winning rider Brad Parnham is reunited and will be hard to peg back over the shorter sprint. MAGNUM CLASS (4) raced on speed narrowly beaten over 1000m at Pinjarra. He has to run out a strong 1200m but maps well and Chris Parnham is a key jockey booking. AUDREY GRACE (6) has a handy gate and tumbles in weight following the tidy CL1 win at Belmont. She's in the mix along with MILITARY POWER (3), who has the same distance proviso as Magnum Class.
SELECTIONS: Backing Mia Gusto.
