We are faced with the prospect of a track again this week with some give in it. Hopefully it is not quite so bad for Eagle Farm.
In small fields it can be dangerous taking short prices but Lady Echelon has all the patterns to peak third up.
She adores affected ground and 12 months ago, third up she won by five at Caloundra. After a couple of Listed runs, she went back to Eagle Farm and won on the heavy by four.
The four year old can sit behind the field, get into the right lane and run the leaders down as they get tired.
Given her effort in the Magic Millions 3yo race, Tinto could easily lift off her first up second. 1100m is too short for her and yet she only missed by a nose at Toowoomba.
She was just over a length off the winner of the Gold Edition second up in December and assuming she handles whatever track is dished up, she is capable of running a race at odds.
It is also worth noting that Glen Colless is riding so well at the moment and jumps on her for the first time.
Tambo's Jewel comes off a last start win at Caloundra and will have plenty of fans on that score.
However she loses Damien Browne, goes to 1500m for the first time and heavy tracks have not been her friends.
Even if the surface is not so bad, we would think she’d be better on a firmer surface but the barrier might put her in an ordinary place.
