Brisbane Best - November 1

3 minute read

What About Me has returned to racing in very good order this preparation and will prove hard to hold out once again at Doomben on Saturday.

The six-year-old gelding followed up two close second placings with a strong win at this C/D last start and takes on similar company today.

The Kelly Schweida-trained runner (Race 4 #1) goes up in the weights off that effort but apprentice jockey James Orman stays on board and claims a much needed 3kg off the allotted 59kg.

What About Me has a very good record not only at the course but over this trip as well and from barrier 6 should settle just off the pace once again.

Hard to knock winning form and his current price of $3.60 looks good for what he has produced in recent times.

Lucky Black has won his last two and looks a danger but takes on tougher here and has to show improvement once again on his recent form.

Later in the day Speedy Sam (Race 6 # 13) lines up in a big field but looks a good each way chance at the current price of $8.50.

The four-year-old mare who has won four of her 10 career outings comes into this off a second placing at Doomben and despite finishing 4.8L off the leader her recent form rates pretty well in this company.

Right down in the weights and with the 3kg claim for apprentice jockey Beau Appo, would expect her to go forward and take plenty of running down.

Stays over the same C/D to what she contested last start and despite coming up against a big field she will give a big sight in this and the $8.50 on offer is certainly a good price in this.

Her recent form puts her around a $5 chance with Lauterbrunnen and Quietly Confident the main dangers.

Last week saw a win for our bet of the day Queen Of The Lochs who was as much as $3.20 whilst the each way play Prettyfamous finish a disappointing 7th.

Good luck!
