Best From The West - June 11

3 minute read

Star mare Wink And A Nod couldn't have been more impressive in the Belmont Sprint last start and it's hard to see her taking a backwards step at Belmont on Saturday.

Due to contest the seventh event, Wink And A Nod is already a Group 3 winner and the Hyperion Stakes now appears well within her reach.

A winner of 14 of her 35 starts, she notably has placed in 12 of her last 18 starts including eight wins.

Returning from a short let up (42 days) she dominated her rivals in the Belmont Sprint last start and in truth it's hard to see the beaten brigade turning the tables.

Successful in returning a new career peak she is the clear top pick and if able to hold her form she looks to set a decent standard.

Currently installed a 2-1 chance appears a more than worthy gamble as we have her marked the clear 6-4 favourite.

Both Wink And A Nod and Battle Hero have met on five occasions with the mare currently leading the ledger 3-2.

From their last three meetings Wink And A Nod has reigned supreme and we do expect that trend to continue on Saturday.

Drawn favourably she should prove very hard to beat.

The highly promising Scales Of Justice contests the final event and appears very well placed to notch up back to back wins.

Much like Vega Magic he looks to have a fair bit up his sleeve and while no easy task taking on the older horses he is thrown in at the weights.

A winner of three of his seven career starts, Scales Of Justice has displayed plenty of ability and is clearly a 3YO heading in the right direction.

His performance last start was simply dominant at this course and distance and a repeat should see him very hard to beat.

As much as 2-1 is being offered about his chances as if priced aggressively we can easily get him into the red.

While lining up against a few handy types (Showy Chloe, Dezzies Dream and Infathuated to name a few) he still should take a power of beating.

As a side note, TopBetta's Brisbane Carnival Tournament continues tomorrow with a $250,000 prize pool and while Ascot won't play a part it is definitely worth checking out - Click Here .
