We venture to Gawler for their Saturday meeting of the year and it will be on an affected track even if it’s getting better.
With that in mind, it is hard to go past Daytona Grey who is one of the best swimmers around.
He is desperate for heavy ground and even manages to get in this week lighter than his win three weeks ago.
The son of Artie Schiller won this race last year carrying the same weight on damp ground then too. In fact he is unbeaten at Gawler.
As long as the track remains with give in it, he’ll be there at the end.
Another runner who scored on wet ground recently was Bang For Ya Buck and she will run you a race in the following event.
It was only midweek level but she led and held on over the 1400m on the Parks track.
She is clearly improving and while others will have support, she will put herself on the speed and if that plays as the pattern, she could be too good.
The mare will be at peak fitness now.
