A return to fillies and mares grade should see Rose Of Man hard to beat at Rosehill on Saturday.

The Terry Robinson-trained five-year-old lines up in race five on the card, the On Point Locating Benchmark 80 Handicap over 1100 metres.

Rose of Man caught the eye charging home from the tail for a 1.5 length fourth in a higher graded race at Randwick last time.

That was against the males and was fought out by stakes winners Southern Legend and Haptic so a restricted race for fillies mad mares looks a much more suitable target.

That run gave Rose Of Man a career best rating and one that is significantly higher than the last-start figures achieved by her rivals tomorrow.

At her previous run she closed late for a half length second to race rival Magnajoy at this course and distance but meets that mare 2kg better on Saturday.

Rose of Man is a two-time winner at 1100m and has yet to miss a place in three runs at the course and although she hasn’t won on a heavy track she does have a good record on soft going.

She is likely to go back again tomorrow from a wide gate but this race looks to have a fast tempo with Magnajoy, Allez Chival and Highly Geared all contesting the lead and that should set the race up for Rose Of Man to finish over the top of them.

Progressive mare Extensible looks well-placed for back-to-back wins in the Strassmeir Handicap (1600m) earlier on the Rosehill program.

The lightly-raced mare put the writing on the wall with two good placings at her first two runs of the campaign then showed what she could do when fully fit with a dominant win at this course last time.

She steps up 100m today but was placed at the trip two starts back and the mare has yet to miss the top three in seven career runs, winning three of them.

Her last-start win gave her a career best rating, one that is clear of what her rivals produced at their latest outings and she looks capable of better figures as she progresses through her career.

Extensible hasn’t seen a heavy track but has raced well four times on the soft including her latest win on a seven-rated surface.

With a few go-forward types engaged in this, Extensible should be suited by the tempo and the inside draw can allow her to secure a cushy run in transit.
