The Melbourne Mail - November 26

3 minute read

The carnival is certainly over but the Valley still manages to throw up a card with some interesting races and plenty of angles for punters to enjoy.

Invincibella looks well placed at Moonee Valley Picture: Racing and Sports

The Melbourne Mail is looking to build the bank early with the first favourite of the day, Invincibella, looking clearly the horse to beat.

That's despite the field being made up of horses all racing in good form. Six of the seven runners were in the money last time and Moonlites Choice ran a good sixth at listed level but none boast the ratings to match Invincibella who has raced exclusively in good company this campaign.

Invincibella has won two of her five starts this campaign but it is her losses that are most interesting as all of them came in races that returned particularly smart speed figures. Runs behind Zenalicious and Niccolance in Sydney leap off the page and she was well supported at Flemington last time when an eye-catching third.

A wide barrier and a tardy start saw her with too much to do there but she powered home and found the line like a horse that will have little trouble taking her form up to the mile - particularly in the small field where she will almost certainly be able to settle within striking distance.

The Melbourne Mail has her marked down closer to even money than the early market does and we are happy to play in the first on the card.

For an each way play we roll onto a particularly competitive seventh race on the card where there is little between Little White Cloud and Hipparchus at the top of betting.

The likes of High Church and Boom Time come into the race off good last start efforts as well but at each way odds we are certainly keen to have Encosta Line on side after he broke through at Sandown last time.

That was a solidly run contest and he closed it off well. The extra trip here is only a positive for him and we know that his last start rating is no fluke. He may not have won as many races as he could have but he has always been a horse that has shown a good level of talent.

Prices around $9.00 early doors look a good each way gamble.
