Brisbane Best - Doomben: June 3

3 minute read

Saturday’s feature Queensland meeting has been moved to Doomben on Saturday in what looks a very strong day of racing.

Bonny O'Reilly Picture: Racing and Sports

Bonny O’Reilly heads north for Bjorn Baker off some very strong winning form in Sydney last month.

The four-year-old mare has won both races this campaign and boasts an impressive career record of six wins from only eight starts.

Settling off the pace over 1200m at Rosehill last start, Bonny O’Reilly was very good over the concluding stages and finds herself in another very winnable race today (Race 8 #8).

Jason Collett remains on board once again and from barrier 2 should be able to find a nice spot behind the leaders and undefeated from both runs at the 1200m looks the one to beat in the final race of the day.

The current price $3.20 looks a good bet for a horse with her winning form and could be a good way to finish the day on a winning note with her last start effort rating very well against her rivals today with the 55.5kg.

Earlier in the programme High Midnight (Race 3 #1) will look to follow up his strong resuming effort in the Spear Chief Handicap (1630m).

The James Cummings-trained runner battled on well to finish third in the G3 BRC Sprint last start behind Jungle Edge and that form reads well for this.

High Midnight possesses a terrific second up record winning 3/4 previously and he has improved at his second up run on all four occasions making a good case that he will produce a stronger effort than his resuming run.

Damian Browne goes on board for the first time and from barrier 11 would expect him to be prominent in the run and up to the 1630m where he has won previously is the only slight concern.

Good Luck!
