Feature racing heads to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland this Saturday in what looks a very tough day in wet conditions.
The track is currently rated a Heavy 8 and it will also have seven races run on Friday so it will be interesting to see how good the track plays on Saturday.
The best bet of the day comes early in the card with Sokudo (Race 3 #2) who lines up in the Listed The Phoenix (1600m).
The Peter Snowden-trained runner has shown good ability this campaign not having had much luck first up at Hawkesbury when third before a fair effort up in class in the Fernhill before a terrific win at Newcastle over 1400m last start.
Sokudo goes back up to the mile today which should not pose too many troubles and his last start win at Newcastle came on a soft track which is similar to what it will be today.
Corey Brown goes on board for the first time and coming up against a fairly modest bunch he rates well clear of his rivals today and the $2.80 on offer looks a good bet.
Later in the day Epidemic (Race 8 #18) will be looking for her third win in a row when she lines up in the Helen Coughlan Stakes (1200m).
The James Cummings-trained runner has been terrific in winning her last couple , the most recent over 1100m at Rosehill in a Benchmark 82.
Won her only time when third up previously and from barrier 4 Larry Cassidy should settle the Lonhro filly just off the speed.
Goes up to the 1200m for this where she has won 2/3 and has had the one start on a slow track which she won by two lengths at Randwick last campaign.
The stable has been in terrific form of late and at $7 currently Epidemic looks a very solid each way bet.
Good luck!
