Despite the carnival being over Doomben plays host to a strong nine race card on Saturday which should see a good track.
Winter Bride (Race 7 #3) has been in terrific form this campaign winning two of her three starts, the most recent by three lengths in open company over 1200m at the Sunshine Coast and the form out of that race has been pretty good since.
That effort came on the back of a third placing to The Bostonian in the Daybreak Lover and she also gets back onto a dry track today and returns to Doomben where she has won 2/3, placing on the other occasion.
From barrier 5 she should be able to settle around midfield with James Orman to maintain the ride and if she gets even luck in the big field you would expect her to prove too strong once again.
Winter Bride is short enough at $2.30 currently but she rates well clear of her rivals on recent form and should be winning again today.
In the race prior Natch (Race 6 #10) will be looking to continue his strong recent form in the Ubet Class 6 Handicap (1350m).
From barrier 8 he should get a nice run just off the leaders in what appears to be a fairly solid tempo.
The Tony Gollan-trained runner has been working through the grades well in recent times and having won four of his 13 career starts has placed on a further seven occasions.
The four-year-old gelding will be shooting for his third win in a row today and despite opening at each way odds has shortened into $3.20 at present.
Would not want to take any shorter than $3.00 for him but he finds a very winnable race to continues his rise through the grades
Good luck!
