Winx is the highlight on Turnbull Stakes Day but either side of what will no doubt be another Winx romp there is an outstanding betting card.
Winx of course dominates Turnbull Stakes betting but the rest of the card is full of evenly matched, deep betting races.
One of those races is the Bart Cummings - a race that holds a significant place in the spring given it's win-and-you're-in to the Melbourne Cup.
That golden ticket to the first Tuesday in November has seen Godolphin switch the talented Avilius south and he quite rightly heads the betting.
He has reeled off awesome splits to win from awkward spots in all three Australian runs and there is little doubt that he is a top line talent down under. Where there might be some doubt is taking that form, where the test has been speed, and translating it to what looks like being a strongly run 2500m.
It's skinny odds to find out and we think it sets up a great bet in the form of Our Venice Beach who will relish a test of stamina.
His form in Europe ties in favourably with Avilius and he looks targeted at the Bart Cummings for a stable that have the race pinned on the stable calendar. He just needs some luck early to make the $8.00 look very generous.
No trouble finding interesting each way plays on this card but we will settle for one we have tried before - La Bella Diosa.
She was just fair for us last time, finishing fifth, but perhaps the quick spike to 1400m caught her a run short. She has a platform now and her fresh run was terrific. It says she's at least as good as ever and that can see her a massive chance on Saturday in the last on the card.
