Brisbane Best: Doomben – December 15

3 minute read

First-up eye-catcher Bluebrook looks well placed to atone for a narrow defeat when he lines up at Doomben on Saturday.

Bluebrook takes on the BRC Membership From $99 Class 3 over 1350m early in the program.

The gelded son of Hinchinbrook steps out for his second run of this campaign after producing an impressive return to place at this course first up in a benchmark 85.

On that occasion he was slow away and settled near the tail of the field but flashed home in the straight to only miss by a neck.

He will be fitter for that outing and suited by the extra 150m having scored at this distance before.

Bluebrook also has a good second up record with a win and a placing from two attempts so natural improvement can be expected.

Jockey James Orman sticks with him and should be able to find a better position in running stepping up in trip from gate four in a race that looks a winnable assignment.

Consistent stayer Stanley should find conditions to suit when he lines up in the Singapore TC Trophy Quality over 2020m.

Stanley has been racing in good form with a string of placings, beating race rival Estikhraaj to score at this course two back before placing behind that galloper last start.

He gets a 2kg weight swing on that horse which could help him turn the tables and he looks set to get a good run up on the pace in a race that should be run a steady tempo.

If allowed to dictate he could pinch a break on his rivals turning for home and prove hard to run down at each way odds.
