Best From The West : Ascot – 6th April 2019

The Karrakatta Plate highlights the day at Ascot. There might be some value in the big juvenile race.

However we’ll look after our best bet first.

Even though first up against a field of mainly hard fit horses, happy to suggest that Free Trade is up to beating these 1MW rivals in Race 6.

The four year old won two trials and then made his debut at Bunbury when leading and trotting in by over two lengths.

Put straight out, he returns again off winning two trials and has the bottom weight for some bonus.

Those who have recent wins run off low races or were big prices in doing so, so it would make you believe the form is sketchy.

The Trade Fair gelding just has to improve again off the spell and can justify the quote.

Onto that Karrakatta Plate and the value may be around Dig Deep from a lovely draw.

This two year old was supported in the Perth Stakes but was slow out off the inside and ended up four back the fence.

Once he got clear toward the middle of the track, his last 100m was the best of the race.

He can’t afford to miss away like that again in such a competitive race but if he sits not that far away, he will be charging home over the longer trip.

Happy to have something on him at the double figures.
