Race by race Bunbury Preview - Thursday, 14th November 2024

3 minute read

Racing heads down to Bunbury on Thursday with sizeable fields across the seven races on the card.

Races four and five on the program are bound to create plenty of interest with a plethora of debutants engaged across the two 1200m maiden events.

Don't forget, you can watch every race in the west live and free on 7Plus and Racing WA

Race 1:  CAREERS @ WA RACING MAIDEN (1675m)

Competitive. POLYVANOVA (9) is a leader busting to win. There was a whisker in it stepping up to this trip last time and she stays down in the weights. Will push over and take pegging back. ANTZ PANTZ BABY (11) missed 1.6L in the same contest as a short-priced favourite and is sure to build on that. Draws better and should get every chance. ETERNAL ROMANCE (12) ran a decent race on debut and then didn't have the best of it off a wide barrier following. Has an inside barrier today and is suited by the step up to the mile. COVENTRY REEF (1) lacked a finish stepping up to the middle distance and is better served back to this trip. He's had plenty of chances but is racing well enough to consider.

Race 2:  BUNBURY BATTERIES & RADIATORS HANDICAP (1675m)

Williams-trained LONG GENES (2) switched from a Sydney barn and was quickly on track beaten a nose over a mile second-up. He has more to give and the gun hoop stays aboard. Maps well and can go one better. MEGAMI (1) peaks and is busting to win. Was narrowly beaten two back and should be sharper with the first-time blinkers applied. CANNY JACK (7) was plain here two back but the form around that reads strongly. Went close at Ascot over this distance last time and maps for a soft run. OCEANZARA (5) peaks and is going well enough to consider. She's at her best over a mile. CANGGU (4) is a leader who demolished the 56 graders at Collie by 7.5L. He was heavily bet again at York following but disappointed. Arrives on a 4-day return and should give a sight.

Race 3:  MGIB MAIDEN (1400m)

AUTHORATIVE (2) dropped back to this distance and was beaten a whisker. Spiked his figures and just has to hold the form to go one better. LADY TREMAINE (5) was plain two back but the form around that is solid. The 1400m should suit and Pike's booking is a decent push for her chances. IN YOUR CORNER (12) got back but made up ground at Belmont Park on debut. Fitter and this suits better. Will get every chance to sit closer. PRIZED DYNAMITE (3) went close at Northam first-up but only battled here following. He's been freshened and is likely to go better. Has an awkward barrier that needs managing.

Race 4:  CUPRUM DISTILLERY MAIDEN (1200m)

This is tricky and the betting moves will be instructive. ENCHANTED MISS (9) debuts and has trialled sharply x2 with Pike aboard. He sticks and the filly finds a winnable assignment. DECISION MAKER (1) showed plenty in his maiden preparation and was only beaten 1.2L first-up over this distance. He will be better for it and maps for the run of the race. Go well. KARNUP QUEEN (6) trialled well and was beaten less than 3L in a Belmont no-metro-win on debut. This suits better and fitter she's a chance. BLUE PEPPER (8) debuts for a top barn and has been well-trialled. Pike gets off but CJP is a positive replacement and the filly draws well.

Race 5:  SWAN DRAUGHT MAIDEN (1200m)

FAST HARRY (9) debuts for the top barn with Pike sticking aboard off two sharp trials. He maps well and a bold run is likely. SURF PATROL (8) resumes and went well on debut. He was down to resume at Belmont on October 30 but was scratched after becoming fractious at the barrier. He's just missed in a Belmont trial since and Chris Parnham has been with him all along. HYPERREAL (2) has been racing well and has pieces of form that would see him in the finish. CJP replaces Chris Parnham and the longer sprint suits better. ZEEZEA (7) will be fitter and is knocking on the door. She has more up her sleeve but a wide gate must be managed.

Race 6:  YOUVE GOT THE TABtouch HANDICAP (1200m)

Not much between these. LA DETTE (5) resumed at Belmont and needed the run. She's proven this distance and second-up and has more to give. The gun hoop sticks aboard and that's a decent push for her chances. Stablemate HOW PRETTY (6) will be better for the narrow first-up defeat. The longer sprint suits and she should enjoy the run of the race. CJP is off the above to ride BRAVE SHOT (4) who resumes for the leading metro stable. Brings a solid trial and has shown enough to suggest he's a hope. DREAMTIME JEAN (2) has the ability and should be ready to show more. He has trialled well off a freshen.

Race 7:  WITTENS IRRIGATION & DESIGN HANDICAP (1675m)

ROCKING SOCIETY (1) has raced over ground at Stakes and Group level and resumed with a near miss at Belmont over this distance. He has a 1.5kg claim and jumps from an insider gate. Brings the best peak figures and fitter he can go one better. The promising LETHAL WEAPON (5) stepped up to this trip at Northam and recorded a dominant Maiden win. Peaks now and looks capable of taking the next step. CRIMMO (7) is also fourth up and is knocking on the door. He can get into the finish. JIDDO (2) resumed here in much stronger and needed the outing. He can use the inside gate and has a sharp record at this track. Pike is a key jockey switch replacing the 3kg apprentice, which suggests we'll see improvement.
