Midweek racing from Canterbury where we have a pair of horses to follow.

Racecourse : Canterbury Park (Australia)

Canterbury Race 1 – Wanaruah

Another smart two-year-old debutant for Waterhouse & Bott, Wanaruah has run a strong time here in the opener. He did have first look at the track, which was rated heavy at the time, but even taking that into account the clock looks very good compared to the other 1250m races on the card. He ran them along and was far too good here, putting up a strong rating in the process. Looks very capable of going through the grades.

Canterbury Race 3 – Madam Instrife

Absolutely luckless debut from this Russian Revolution filly who should've won with clear running. She got back to last in the field of six and just got badly held up behind runners around the turn and into the straight as the winner and favourite, Summer Loving, came around the field. Madam Instrife was very green and had to wait until after the 200m to get out, making up very good ground late. She should be atoning next time out.
