Race 5: Privileged Son

Coming off a fast-finishing sixth at Sandown-Lakeside, Privileged Son backed up the clock in most impressive fashion to score and punch out a new career peak. Running to 89 on the Racing and Sports scale, the son of Savabeel bettered his last start rating and previous peak by five pounds.

Without a doubt the most visually impressive win on the nine-race card, the Patrick Payne-trained six-year-old looked in all sorts as he rounded the bend, but jockey Samuel Payne never panicked and slowly extricated his mount to the outside. Claiming clear running passing the 200m, Privileged Son unleashed a stunning turning of foot to swoop on his rivals and somehow score by 2.3L in the end.

Really starting to stretch away from them inside the final 50m, Privileged Son rattled off the meeting's fastest final 200m sectional in the process at 11.54 seconds on a Soft 6 surface in a 2250m contest... This win carries plenty of merit and I don't see a rise in trip causing him any concerns. Expect to see him winning again soon.
