Seaside won the Dark Jewel Classic to continue John O'Shea's strong start as Darley Australia's head trainer.
Seaside travelled well in about eighth place, with cover, following a good tempo. She continued to improve (wide with cover) nearing the turn, challenged at the 200m, hit the lead at the 100m and the then fought back gamely to defeat her stablemate by half a length.
Aerobatics was ridden quietly from her wide barrier (10) and settled in second last place in the ten-horse field. She was going well and improved with cover approaching the home turn. She switched out on straightening, put in a good run to challenge at the 100m and then fought on well for (half length) second.
Myamira was held up for a late run as usual and remained in last place until the home turn. She went wide on turning into the straight, put in a good run to be in a challenging position at the 100m and then fought on for third, beaten one length.
Lilliburlero was trapped deep in the early stages and gradually worked up (wide) rounding the home turn. She challenged at the 200m and the held on quite well for (1.9 lengths) fourth after working for most of the race.
Miss Stellabelle raced behind the leader (Two Blue), got an inside run to take the lead turning for home and then battled on for (4.6 lengths) fifth, after appearing to have every chance.
