Proceedwithcaution looked the goods winning the Belmont Classic on Saturday.
Proceedwithcaution soon crossed to the lead, before easing to travel in second place behind the leader (Shalo) who set a very moderate pace.
He was travelling well nearing the turn but was blocked until the 300m.
He then got a split, grabbed the lead shortly afterwards and went on to score well, granted by only a neck, running the 2200m out well
It was a most promising staying effort.
The filly Star Of Husson was slowly away and remained last in the ten-horse field to the home turn.
She looked for inside runs on straightening, got a late split at between runners at the 200m and then fought on gamely for an unlucky second.
I’m Feeling Lucky was back in eighth place and improved wide with cover from the 600m.
She moved up well (three deep) at the home turn, challenged at the 200m and kept fighting on well for a good third.
