Cluster wins Theo Marks Stakes Group 2 $200,000 at Rosehill (NSW) 3yo+, 1400m.
Cluster impressed with his late-closing win. He began quite well but was eased to settle at the tail of the eight-horse field. He remained there to the home turn, switched wide on passing the 300m and then showed a very good turn of foot to grab a half neck win at the post.
Bull Point was second last, one off the rails to the 600m where he commenced to improve. He put in a good run from the 300m, challenged at the 100m and fought on well for second.
Ninth Legion raced behind the leader, went to the front at the 300m and then battled on quite well for third.
Jetset Lad was fourth, one out and one back before moving up three wide nearing the 600m. He
then kept fighting on in the straight for a sound fourth, beaten just over two lengths. The stayer Zephyron was sixth between runners before getting through to fourth at the 300m. He then fought on well for a good (3 lengths) fifth in a very encouraging first-up effort.
The VRC Oaks (Gr 1, 2500m) winner Kirramosa was sixth on the rails, got along the rails from the 300m and kept battling on soundly for (3.3 lengths) sixth. It was only her second run from a spell and she seems to have returned in good order.
