Like A Carousel wins 2014 Knight Fm Harry White Classic Listed $120,000 at Sandown-Hillside (VIC) , 2400m.
Like A Carousel did well to win here over 2400m at only his second start since April. He began nicely and raced in fifth place with cover, settling behind a steady early tempo. He was ridden quietly when the pace picked up considerably in the mid-stages and was still giving the breakaway leaders Masked Marvel and Martian about 15 lengths at the 600m. He then kept plugging on gamely, getting to the lead at the 100m before drawing clear to score by a length and a half in a solid staying effort.
The favourite Mulaqen was a distant third at the 600m but kept running on and hit the lead at the 300m (when the leaders tired) and then fought on for second, beaten a length and a half.
Unchain My Heart was a distant tenth at the 600m, was still well back at the 300m but she kept plugging on soundly and got through to take third nearing the post.
Surpass was a distant seventh at the 600m and was hard ridden at the turn. He kept plugging on, looked a threat at the 300m but only battled on from that point to take fourth.
Caravan Rolls On held on for (3.8 lengths) fifth while one of the tearaway mid-race leaders Martian tired for (4.6 lengths) sixth while Masked Marvel, who held a commanding lead at one stage, dropped out to finish (23 lengths) last.
