Soriano wins 2014 Agrodome Rotorua Plate Listed NZ$50,000 at Arawa Park (NZ), 1950m.
A patient ride by Rory Hutchings enabled the race favourite Soriano to prove a class above her rivals. Unable to muster early speed, Soriano settled third last at the post with a lap to run and was tenth passing the 800m. She found a clear passage to improve behind runners rounding the home turn and although held up and required to switch ground in search of run, once through a tight gap at the 100m she burst clear.
Noble Warrior worked forward to challenge at the 400m from a handy position in fourth and fought solidly for second, while third placed Little Alfie Brown led early before trailing in third at the 1000m and was gritty in her performance.
In a line up for the minors: Smartly came out of midfield to finish widest on the track in fourth, Sir Elmo closed nicely nearer the rail for fifth and Saint Kitt stuck on well for sixth after improving to second at the 1000m.
