Although back in the running, Pondarosa Miss appeared to be travelling beautifully before progressing on the bridle into contention passing the 600m and able to secure the best strip of ground, wide out in the straight, she flattened out in the slow going to win narrowly but well. Dictated to race on the inside from barrier one, which was not ideal,
Vespa tracked a path into centre track soon after straightening and continued in gallant fashion for a close second.
Third placed Kawi was ridden quietly at the rear before being urged to pick up at the 600m, when ten off the lead, and he staged a massive run through the pack to only just miss out on winning.
The first three had a clear margin over the pace making Allez Eagle in fourth, and Mighty Solomon and Abidewithme who each ran on strongly for fifth and sixth respectively.
