Dead Or Alive wins 2015 Oaklands Plate Listed $80,00 at Morphettville (SA) 2yo, 1600m.
Dead Or Alive, having only his second race start, stepped up to 1600m to win this Listed race well. He settled back in fifth place, one off the rails and was urged to improve at the 600m. He moved up deep (under riding) at the 250m and rallied in the closing stages to win by almost a length at the post. He is a solid, staying type with a promising future.
Favourite Battle Brewing went to the front, steadied the tempo before grabbing a clear break nearing the home turn and looked the winner when well clear at the 200m, but was overhauled coming to the post to finish second.
Commiserate, stablemate of the winner, was sixth on the rails, got a split on straightening and went to third at the 200m. He then kept fighting on, a bit one-paced, to finish a close-up third, also looking a staying type.
Second favourite, Maxie’s Blue Girl was fourth to the home turn, went to second at the 250m and then battled on for
(1.8 lengths) fourth.
