Atlantis Dream wins 2015 Queen Of The South Stakes Group 2 $175,000 at Morphettville (SA) 3yo+Fillies & Mares, 1600m.
Atlantis Dream went back from her wide barrier (11) and settled near the tail of the 13-horse field. She tracked up (three wide, with cover) from the 800m, went to the middle of the track on straightening and came with a strong, late finish to grab a narrow by good win.
Let's Make Adeal settled midfield, wide with cover. She commenced a wide run from the 600m, challenged at the 100m and kept fighting well for second in a bold first-up run.
Favourite Marianne travelled well outside the leader (Japhils), looked a threat at the 200m and then kept fighting on for a close-up third.
Clear Direction raced behind the leader to the home turn and then battled on quite well for fourth, beaten a length, after seeming to have every chance. Japhils led the field until the final 100m before dead-heating for (1.5 lengths) fifth with Girl In Flight, who made good ground, coming (wide) from last at the 600m point.
