Into The Red wins 2015 Landfill Logistics Ascot Hcp Listed $100,000 at Doomben (QLD), 1200m.
Into The Red was a surprise first-up winner but he put up a good effort, nevertheless. He did not show much early pace and settled in second last place in the 12-horse field, following a strong tempo. He stuck to the rails rounding the home turn, got a great run along the inside to take the lead at the 200m and then dashed clear to win easily.
Outsider Bymonashee settled in eighth place on the rails from his inside barrier (1). He improved between runners at the 250m, got to second at the 100m and fought on to hold that position to the post, having no chance with the winner.
Favourite Delectation was eased from his wide barrier (11) and settled in last place and remained there to the home turn. He switched out on straightening, put in a quick run going to fourth at the 100m and continued to make ground for a sound third.
