Magnapal wins 2015 Sheen Group Heatherlie Stakes Listed $120,000 at Caulfield (VIC), 1700m.
Magnapal enjoyed a good run from barrier two, racing in fourth place on the rails, behind a good tempo. He got through to second at the 300m, hit the front at the 100m and went on to score well after enjoying an ideal trip.
Equal favourite, Iggimacool was back in sixth place on the rails, improved (between runners) nearing the home turn, got to third at the 200m and then fought well for a good second.
Onpicalo went to the front and ran along at a solid pace. He was only headed at the 100m and did quite well in holding on for third after setting such a strong tempo.
Lord Durante was handy all the way and held on fairly well for (5.9 lengths) fourth. Of the favoured runners, Excess Knowledge was eighth to the 600m but was under pressure at the home turn before finishing (6.9 lengths) seventh, while Bold Sniper was sixth to the home turn but was disappointing in tiring for (7.3 lengths) eighth.
