Complacent wins 2015 Outdoor Craven Plate Group 3 $125,000 at Randwick (NSW) 3yo+, 2000m.
Complacent was smartly away, led in the early stages before easing to race in second place. He then had the task of taking the field up to the free-running leader (Celtic Prince). He got to the front at the 300m, was headed at the 200m but fought back very gamely to score a brave win in a photo.
His Godolphin stablemate Hauraki was back in seventh place before making a strong move (deep) on turning for home. He grabbed a narrow lead at the 200m, and in an exciting finish, failed narrowly for a very good second.
I'm Imposing was nicely placed in fifth spot on the rails, switched out on turning for home, was briefly held up at the 300m and then fought on well for a good third.
Moriarty was back in eighth place, went wide at the home turn and kept running on well for a sound (3.7 lengths) fourth.
Grand Marshal was last in the ten-horse field to the home turn, kept steadily making ground to finish (5.9 lengths) fifth and will appreciate stepping up further in trip.
