Disposition wins 2015 Guvera Stakes Group 3 $200,000 at Flemington (VIC), 1400m.
Damien Oliver, on warm favourite Disposition, rode as if he knew he was on the best in the race and gave his mount plenty of time to settle from barrier eleven. Disposition was second last as they started the corner and equal last when the field headed for home. Oliver remained patient, hugging the rails, then saw a gap on San Diego’s inner and drove his mount through to take a narrow lead inside the 200m but had to hold off a brave San Diego inside the final 100m for a hard fought win.
San Diego saved every inch of ground around the turn back in sixth place and when the leaders drifted out he had a clear view of the straight, then forged to lead only to drift out himself to the benefit of the winner. He fought well right to the line for a good second.
Hosting raced just in front of the winner but elected to move off the rails for his run. He was blocked at the 300m but then found space inside the 200m and finished the best of the rest.
