Traveston Girl wins 2015 Bus Indus Council Brisbane Hcp Listed $100,000 at Doomben (QLD), 1640m.
Traveston Girl followed her good first-up win in the Recognition Stakes (Listed, 1600m) on 21 November with another stakes win, albeit narrowly on this occasion. She was smartly away from her good barrier (2) went to the front and settled well, travelling at quite a good tempo. She was challenged at the home turn but she clung grimly to her lead in the straight, fighting back for a narrow but courageous win.
Hopfgarten raced outside the leader Traveston Girl, challenged her strongly nearing the home turn and after a battle the full stretch of the home straight, he was beaten narrowly in a very game effort, conceding 5kg to the winner.
Shotover River had a good trip in fourth place on the rails, got through to third at the 200m and battled well to hold that position to the post.
Bewhatyouwannabe was a handy third, but caught three wide without cover. He challenged coming to the home turn and battled on well after a difficult trip for (2.4 lengths) fourth.
Jumbo Prince caught the eye running on late, after racing near the tail of the field to the home turn, for (2.6 lengths) fifth.
