Julinsky Prince wins 2015 Rydges Captain Cook Stakes Group 1 NZ$200,000 at Trentham (NZ), 1600m.
Julinsky Prince settled down in fourth position one out one back about three lengths from the early leader Authentic Prince who set slow fractions in front. He travelled well in the run but made a move at the 800m to improve his position to be on the outside of the leader. That pair cornered for home well clear of the field and fought out the finish with Julinsky Prince getting his head in front right on the line.
Authentic Paddy enjoyed a soft run in front. He was challenged by the winner from the 800m where the pace noticeably picked up. He fought hard the whole way down the straight to just go under.
Soriano was slow out of the barriers and settled down in last position about tenth lengths from the leader. She improved her position a little in the middle stage of the race to be seventh on the fence about six length from the leader. She was under hard riding turning for home and switched back towards the fence. She got into the clear at the 250m but only stayed on solidly for a never threatening third.
