Tried And Tired wins 2016 My Kitchen Rules Stakes Listed $120,000 at Flemington (VIC), 1400m.
A handy draw of five saw Tried And Tired jump well and move from an early third into second, camping just behind the leader (Coronation Shallan) when they started on the big Flemington bend. Tried And Tired held his position nearing the last corner and passing the 300m, grabbed the lead and edged out to a length advantage and that was enough to get him to the line, winning with some gas left in the tank.
Yesterday's Songs was sixth rounding the bend, moved up closer just before the home straight and was presented with a clear run once balanced. He made his challenge at the 300m but the winner held him at bay by a length.
Coronation Shallan lead from the jump and was going comfortably in that position to the 300m yet when passed, fought pretty well to the line without looking like a winner.
