Rasa Lila wins 2016 Wentwood Grange Cuddle Stakes Group 3 NZ$70,000 at Trentham (NZ) Fillies & Mares, 1600m.
Rasa Lila was slow away from the inside and settled with only a three behind her before moving up (rails) to be midfield starting the bend. Inside the 800m she lost her position, drifting slightly but jockey Leith Innes kept calm and she found room one off the fence before they straightened. Once balanced, she pulled out as the field fanned and when asked by Innes at the 300m the mare cruised up to the leaders and she then drove clear to win as she liked for an impressive, easy win, her first at stakes level and sixth overall.
Goodsav was second, just outside the leader (Illuminati) passing the 800m, edged up to be level into the straight and then battled very well to the post.
Illuminati lead around the corner and was challenged by Goodsav and these two had a great fight for the minors but neither had any chance with the winner.
