Military Reign wins 2016 Beaufine Stakes Listed $100,000 at Belmont Park (WA) 2yo+, 1000m.
Talented three-year-old filly Military Reign put a good effort in beating older runners here. She began quickly from her inside barrier (1) going straight to the lead. She then ran along at a good tempo in the rain affected conditions, grabbed a nice break on turning for home and was not threatened from that point to score impressively.
Malibu Style raced outside the leader and eventual winner to the home turn and kept battling on well in the straight to hold second, having no chance with the winner.
Rock Magic, winner of this race last year, settled midfield (wide with cover), got to fifth at the home turn and kept making ground for a sound first-up third.
