Don't Doubt Mamma put up good effort to score. She settled back in seventh place on the rails from her inside barrier (1), behind a very moderate pace (first 800m 50.62). She moved through on the inner nearing the 300m, challenged at the 100m and fought back gamely for a narrow but good win.
Thames Court raced outside the leader (Choose), got to the front at the 300m and then battled really well for second, failing by a very narrow margin.
Manageress was back in eighth place, between runners, coming to the home turn. She moved up to challenge at the 300m and then kept battling on well for a close-up third.
The favourite Telopea settled back in last place from her outside barrier (16), went deep in the straight and did well making ground for (1.4 lengths) eighth, being disadvantaged by the steady early pace.
