Nymph Monte wins 2016 C’church Casino Spring Classic Listed NZ$50,000 at Riccarton Park (NZ), 2000m.
Nymph Monte settled fifth after jumping fairly from barrier four. Rider Alysha Collett never moved once they started on the Riccarton bend and saved ground against the fence but at the 600m Collett looked behind, saw that there was room and got away from the rail. The split came as they turned into the straight and the pair surged through and levelled up to the leaders. Into the last 300m and they cruised clear and won well with a lot in hand, a top effort.
Night Nurse was worse than midfield, one off the fence, around the bend, moved through to be handier into the straight and then ran on very well, just nabbing second at the post.
Sureasyouwereborn lay second around the last corner, took over into the straight then held on well, just losing second at the post.
