Lady Zafira wins 2016 Pegasus Hcp Listed NZ$50,000 at Riccarton Park (NZ), 1000m.
Lady Zafira was one of the slowest to begin from barrier five yet jockey Mark du Plessis patiently moved her forward to be just in behind the leaders at the crossing. They eased wider into the straight and made their run out in the middle of the track, winding up to take the lead inside the 200m then raced clear over the final 100m to win well in the sharp time of 55.87 seconds.
Kinagat was back early, wide over the crossing, cruised up to be handy into the straight and grabbed a share of the lead at the 300m. He looked to be travelling well but was simply outsprinted to the line.
Coup Darci Be was last at the crossing and still last into the straight then weaved his way through and was rattling home at the line for a solid third.
