A plane trip from Melbourne to Adelaide paid dividends for hoop Steven Arnold when he landed the first winner of the day Muraahib at Morphettville on Saturday.

Starting for the first time the David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig charge Muraahib travelled behind the leader before getting out 200 metres from the post.

Arizona Wildcat brought up her second win in a month when she took out the 1050 metre second race.

Having the services of apprentice Zac Spain the Lloyd Kennewell prepared Arizona Wildcat was well placed.

Apprentice Matthew Poon kept the good run of apprentices going when he steered Optimize to a win in the 1600 metre third race.

Prepared by Poon’s master Richard Jolly Optimize led all the way.

The trend of on the pace runners continued when the Sharon Hayes prepared Simon Price ridden Big Effort took out the 1050 metre fourth race.

Matthew Poon scored his second winner for the afternoon when he rode Jim’s Journey to victory in the 1600 metre fifth race. Winning the corresponding race last year the Peter Blanch trained Jim's Journey came with a strong run from a midfield position to win.

After pulling up lame at his last start Flying Casino redeemed himself when he took out the 2500 metre sixth race.

Being under the care of John Hickmott and guided to victory by Jason Holder Flying Casino settled last before coming with a late run from the rear of the field.

Strategic Demand proved himself a good sprint competitor when he brought up a hat-trick of wins in the 1200 metre seventh race.

Giving Clare Lindop her first win since her recent marriage the Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas trained Strategic Demand came wide with a withering run from last to bring up win number five from nineteen starts.


Matthew Poon shot to the lead in the city jockeys’ premiership when he won on Evil Dreams in the 1100 metre final event.

Giving Richard Jolly a double Evil Dreams came from a better than midfield position with a strong run over the last 200 metres.
