Maybe Miami wins 2017 Speight’s Timaru Stakes Listed NZ$50,000 at Riccarton Park (NZ), 1400m.
Maybe Miami was a tad slow from barrier eight then rushed up to be third (one off the fence) midway around the bend. Rider Samantha Collett pushed the five-year-old three-wide alongside the leaders once into the straight but did not ask for an effort until the 200m and the response was good, coming away over the last 100m to score convincingly and in a smart time.
Batman was second most of the way and into the straight, shared the lead with the winner, these two having a great tussle to the 100m but was out-finished, holding second pretty well.
Court Order hugged the fence in behind the pace to the turn, found space at the 200m and ran on well for third.
Kinagat took time to wind up but finished quite well to grab fourth.
